David Baraff,

David Baraff is currently a Senior Animation Scientist at Pixar Animation Studios. He received a BsE in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylyvania, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cornell University. From 1992 to 1998 Dr. Baraff was a Professor of Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania. Simulation software from Physical Effects, Inc., a software company he co-founded, has been used in numerous movies at studios outside of Pixar. In 2006 he received a Scientific and Technical Academy Award (c) for his work on cloth simulation.

Research interests

Physically-based modeling and rendering techniques, and novel programming/network methodology and representations.
