Philip Rideout helped develop the first real-time high-level shading language at 3Dlabs in the early 2000's. His graphics blog "The Little Grasshopper" remains a popular resource for students of modern OpenGL. He was a senior developer at NVIDIA in the developer tools team from 2005 to 2008. More recently he worked on novel rendering techniques for simulation of fluoroscopy and ultrasound displays. Today he's trying to help out with Pixar's shading pipeline and real-time preview tools.
